MVF Soccer UWA - S3 - Week 5 - Keep Melting Those Calories!

After a one week hiatus due to poor weather, it is great to see everyone back on the field again! Even better, this week it’s MAN 26 - 0 FAT! Excellent work lads! A few more players have now been inducted to the 5% club: Ian MacD (Borussia Donut), Ravi P (Shed Kilos FC), Gary K (Tango Town), and Ullrich E (The Dark Force). Give those boys a slap on the back when you see them next!

Dealing with plateaus … An issue that came up this week was that some of you are starting to feel that your weight loss is slowing down. Don’t panic – and don’t change the sensible, small things that have served you really well to this point in the season. Plateaus like that are REALLY common during weight loss journeys – it’s really rare that you’ll just continue to drop the same amounts week in, week out. If you’re keen to find out more about plateaus and why they happen, check out this link: https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/weight-loss/in-depth/weight-loss-plateau/art-20044615. The main thing to remember is ‘calorie in’ vs. ‘calorie out’, and to keep faith with what you’re doing. Deficits (more calories out than in) will lead to decrease in body weight. So, if you hit a plateau that lasts for a few weeks, and you haven’t hit your weight loss goals by that time, then you could look for ways to change the out vs in balance a bit. One approach would be to look for ways to increase your physical activity a little more, or to look for any new changes you might be able to introduce to your diet (e.g., having one less beer/wine than usual). But remember to keep your changes gradual and to maintain them. You can find more useful information on how to increase your physical activity and diet change suggestions at this link: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/weight-loss-a-healthy-approach.

Exciting list of match ups next week, with the weather looking fairly good at this stage. Do remember that our pitch has shifted to a new spot, but we are still doing the weigh-ins at the usual locker rooms. Come on down earlier to have a chat and warm up before your match, I’m always happy to have a conversation. Have a great weekend and see you boys next Wednesday night!
