The final week of season 3, I really can’t believe how fast it’s gone since I became the coach, must be because the lads have kept me so busy!!
This week we returned to our regular venue at Sir Stanley Matthews Academy which means a very different set of games due to the pitch size and lack of boards to keep the ball in play, as ever in football some were pleased and others were not
With Sporting Abeergut already assured of a place in the final at the end of the evening it was between Kentucky FC and Real Fatrid to see who would face them. Fatrid had a nightmare with traffic, injuries and holidays meaning they had to forfeit there game. Pressure was on Kentucky FC to get a win and an 11 goal swing in goal difference, they got the win but fell 3 goals short which meant Fatrid made the final.
Fatrid were able to field a team in the final as the player who was stuck in traffic had made it, they did however need loan players which meant they started the game 6 goals down and faced an incredibly tough challenge against the all conquering 'guts. Ultimately despite Fatrid winning on the pitch the loan player penalties wewre too much and Sporting Abeergut claimed the cup to go along with the league they won earlier in the season.
Congratulations to everyone this season, there have been some fantastic losers. Billy Von Toller claimed the illustrious Golden Moob with a massive 17% weight loss while Tim Whitehurst claimed the MVP for most weight loss goals scored and 50 Stone Lighter lived up to their name by claiming the biggest team loss at a whopping 69.7KG. As a league we have lost 297.2KG in just 14 weeks, incredible work and you should all feel proud of your achievements
So that’s it, season 3 is done and now we can look forward to season 4 with a slightly revised format of 8 teams instead of 10 and a straight league competition over the 14 weeks. The new teams are all looking strong and well balanced so we should be in for a cracker.
I’d like to say a personal thank you to every player for your support over the last couple of months Now lets smash season 4 and take it to the nation at St Georges Park.
