It’s coming to the end of the season, you have taken part in a host of Man v Fat games, changed the way you approach meals and have taken the next step in reaching your ideal body image. However, you have found that the rate that your body is shedding those pounds has slowed down and you’re finding it harder to stick to the changes in your diet, as you think nothing is working. This is called a weight loss plateau and don’t worry, this is common in people that are aiming to lose weight. This is where the metabolism declines and results in fewer calories burned than when you were heavier. Fighting this isn’t easy, but there are a few things you can do.

Why not increase your general activity levels throughout the day by walking more and using your car less? You could also utilise the many outdoor gyms/parks that the Wyre Forest area offers. Reassessing your calorie intake could result in areas of your diet which could be cut or swapped? Aiming for 30 grams of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains a day leads to seven calories eliminated from dietary intake later in the day (due to feeling fuller). That means if you hit the suggested 30-gram mark, you could cancel out 210 calories a day.
