Week 13 of the Manchester League and we were back in the weight loss groove. After last week’s disappointing 11.60kg gain I am happy to report that this week the league has lost 36.1kg. Great Turn around boys. With one week to go in the season the league has lost 371kg. A 30kg loss and we will crack the magic 400kg mark. Ambitious for sure but this week’s loss shows it is possible.
To the games…
Game 1 was a ‘grudge’ match between Grazin Squad and Inter mi Scran, the two part of season 1’s No Kay FC. With the title to play for Inter mi Scran needed a pitch victory, which they secured with a 2-1 win. However after book goals and the scales were added it was Grazin Squad who won the fixture 10-3.
Game 2 and OB City also had the title to play for when they faced off against 17 Stone Roses. Determined to win the pitch table for the season 17 Stone Roses booted home 4 to OB’s 2. With a strong night on the scales as well, Richard (10%), Ian (5%) and Paul (5%) and a couple of hat tricks they were hard to catch. Congratulations to Neil from OB who hit his 5% to give OB a chance. In the end the Roses won 19-13.
As the most improved football team for the second half of the season Slimdown Town came in confident against Weapons of Mass Reduction. However, as the Weapons have proved time and time again, never under estimate them. A big shout of to Craig- one of the league’s most popular members and chief organiser of the kick around games- who scored his first pitch goal of the season AND hit his 10%. What a week! With one of the lowest BMI’s in the League Craig continues to show that even the smallest players can still pull great numbers on the scales. Congratulations to Rich who also hit his 5%. Weapons won the pitch battle 4-0 and the fixture 15-7.
Last game of the night and the other title contenders Fatboy Slims faced off against Purple Gorillas. Fatboy Slims have had a great season on the scales, lead by Tom and Paul who this week both hit their 10% this week, well done boys. A last minute goal to the Gorillas meant the pitch score was 1-0 in their favour but books and scales spoke volumes with Fatboy Slims big winners, 20-1.
We have one week to go, one more chance to smash the scales this season. For those close to 5% (and there are about 10 of you within striking distance) remember that if you hit the mark you will be eligible to represent Manchester at the end of season tournament at St Georges Park. Hopefully that will be the incentive some of you need.
